KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – The semisubmersible Transocean Searcher was due to mobilize earlier this week to drill an exploration well on the Haribo prospect in the southern Norwegian North Sea.
According to Hibiscus Petroleum, joint owner of one of the partners Lime Petroleum Norway, the location is inlicense PL616 in 70 m (229 ft) of water, 10 km (6.2 mi) from the Valhall platform complex.
Well 2/11-11 is expected to take 45 days to reach a depth of 3,350 m (10,991 ft).
Main reservoir target is reworked chalk on the west flank of the Valhall-Hod ridge. Operator Edison Norge estimates potential reserves at around 150 MMboe.
There are two small oil and gas discoveries in the northern part of the license, where broadband 3D seismic has been reprocessed to evaluate prospectivity.
Additionally, Lime is participating in the Tullow-operated well on the Zumba prospect in PL591 in the Norwegian Sea, which started drilling on May 21. The program could last up to 58 days in the event of a discovery, including sampling/logging operations.
