Development drilling to accelerate at South Pars Phase 13

Drilling is expected to speed up at Phase 13 of the South Pars gas field development in the Persian Gulf following delivery of three new drilling rigs.

TEHRAN, Iran – Drilling is expected to speed up at Phase 13 of the South Pars gas field development in the Persian Gulf following delivery of three new drilling rigs.

Payam Motamed, an official for the project, told news service Shana two of the rigs will start operating this week, followed by a third next week at the newly installed jacket C, due to drill 11 wells.

In addition, North Drilling Co.’sSahar I rig will re-start operations at platform B of the phase, further accelerating the pace of drilling. 

Phase 13 will eventually produce 50 MMcm/d (1.8 bcf/d) of sweet natural gas, and 80,000 b/d of gas condensate. It is under development by Petro Paydar Iranian, SADRA, and MAPNA.
