STAVANGER, Norway – Global Maritime Group has started building the first of two jackup liftboats for Chinese privately owned company Baoham Offshore.

The rig is under construction at the Paxocean shipyard in Zhoushan, China, and Global Maritime is already working on plans for a second unit. Both are based on its GM-J1450 design.

The GM-J1450 liftboat has a water depth capability of 80 m (260 ft) and will be equipped with a 400-metric ton (441-ton) deck crane.

Additionally, Global is developing asemisubmersible drilling rig based on its GM-4E design for the same customer, and expects to sign a commercial agreement soon.

The GM-4E mid-water semi will have an eight-point mooring system and Class 3 dynamic positioning, with a variable deck load of more than 4,000 metric tons (4,409 tons).
