Shell to add production well to Draugen offshore mid-Norway

A/S Norske Shell has authorization to use the semisubmersible Transocean Barents to drill a production well on the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, Norway – A/S Norske Shell has authorization to use the semisubmersible Transocean Barents to drill a production well on the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea, 150 km (93 mi) north of Kristiansund.

Production, which started on the field in October 1993, is via a fixed concrete platform with an integrated deck. Shell has developed accumulations in the area through subsea wells tied back to theDraugen facility.

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved drilling of well 6407/9-G-5 H in 289 m (948 ft) of water. The well will be connected to a subsea pipeline system.

The 45-day program is due to start on May 30.
