HOUSTON –Saipem’s stand at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference in Houston has showcased some sector-leading technologies and initiatives, particularly for deepwater projects.

Saipem’s latest line within its Offshore Business unit is Innovator 2.0. It represents a step change in Saipem’s subsea robotics offering, and aims at helping the company build world-class and more efficient ROVs in-house. Saipem said Innovator 2.0 will lead to the creation of a state-of-the-art fleet of WROVs optimized for heavy lifting, with a powerful auxiliary circuit and configurable valve packs.

The company further addressed the subsea segment with its standalone joint venture, Xodus Subsea, established in October 2014 with Xodus Group and Chiyoda Corp. Xodus Subsea expends Saipem’s competences in engineering and consulting with a focus mainly on the early phase of projects.

Saipem also profiles its newly leasedNormand Maximus vessel. This is the result of a design aimed at combining the installation of subsea umbilicals raisers and flowlines (SURF) with field development activities in ultra-deepwater.
