PERTH, AustraliaBHP Billiton maintains the best average drill times of any company in the Gulf of Mexico, according to Tim Cutt, the company’s president, Petroleum and Potash.

Speaking today at the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration (APPEA) conference, he also claimed his company had reduced the time to load and analyze seismic data by 80% over the past 12 months.

“This is critical,” he said, “as we move to interpret the largest proprietary seismic survey ever undertaken by an independent oil company, covering over 21,000 sq km (8,108 sq mi) in the deepwater ofTrinidad and Tobago.”
