DUBLIN, Ireland - Airbus Defence and Space and Spectrum Geo have started a 2D seismic and seep study program over the Porcupine basin offshore western Ireland, ahead of the forthcoming Irish Licensing Round.

Their joint analysis will correlate natural oil seeps identified from radar satellites with 2D seismic data to assist hydrocarbon exploration in the region.

Spectrum has reprocessed 14,000 km of regional 2D data, supplementing results from preceding surveys, and integrating gravity, magnetics and well data.

Based on analysis of multi-temporal satellite radar data to date, Airbus Defence and Space says results are encouraging with a strong correlation between slicks and seismic features.
