KrisEnergy gears up to spud Rayrai exploratory well in Gulf of Thailand

KrisEnergy has announced that the Key Gibraltar jackup has commenced drilling of the Rayrai-1 exploratory well in block G10/48 in the Gulf of Thailand.

SINGAPORE –KrisEnergy has announced that the Key Gibraltar jackup has commenced drilling of the Rayrai-1 exploratory well in block G10/48 in the Gulf of Thailand.

The well is located in water depths of 170 ft (52 m) and lies 1.40 mi (2.25 km) north of the Niramai oil discovery. The well should reach a TD of 6,382 ft (1,945 m) and will test early Miocene stacked fluvial sandstones on a north-south trending faulted basement high.

License G10/48 spans 4,696 sq km (1,813 sq mi) over the southern section of the Pattani basin, which contains three oil discoveries – Wassana, Niramai, and Mayura.

The company is developing the Wassana oil field via a mobile offshore production unit producing to a floating storage offshore loading vessel. The jackup will drill up to 15 Wassana development wells once it completes its current drilling program.
