BP terminates GoM drillship contract

BP has terminated its contract with the ENSCO ultra-deepwater drillship DS-4 in the Gulf of Mexico.

HOUSTON – BP has terminated its contract with the ENSCO ultra-deepwater drillship DS-4in the Gulf of Mexico.

The original contract was to run to July 2016.

ENSCO has said the contract termination means BP owes $160 million and that the current $560,000 day rate will sustain through the July termination date.
