HOUSTON – Statoil, on behalf of Gassco, has contracted Wood Group Mustang Norway to perform engineering modifications and upgrades to the Kollsnes process plant west of Bergen, Norway.

Scope of the contract, valued at more than $61 million, includes front-end engineering and design, procurement and management assistance to expand plant capacity, and engineering, procurement, and management assistance to update the electrical, instrumentation and control systems.

The program lasts through 2017.

Kollsnes processes natural gas from the Troll, Kvitebjørn, and Visund fields in the North Sea and provides almost 40% of Norwegian gas deliveries. These modifications will allow the complex to accommodate increased production from the Kvitebjørn.

When modifications are complete the facility will be one of the world’s largest gas processing plants with capacity to process 144.5 million cu m/d of gas.

Gassled owns the Kollsnes plant. Gassco is the operator and Statoil is the technical service provider.
