Wintershall takes charge of Vega offshore Norway

Wintershall has assumed operatorship from Statoil of the Vega field in the Norwegian North Sea.

STAVANGER, NorwayWintershall has assumed operatorship from Statoil of the Vega field in the Norwegian North Sea.

This is the German company’s first operated subsea tieback offshore Norway. It also operates production at the Brage field.

Vega, which entered production in 2010, is connected to the GDF Suez-operated Gjøa platform.

Currently Wintershall’s Norwegian production is more than 60,000 boe/d.

As part of the same deal with Statoil the company lifted its interests in theAasta Hansteen gas development in the Norwegian Sea and the associated Polarled pipeline project.
