McDermott receives EPCI contracts offshore Qatar, Saudi Arabia

Qatar Petroleum has contracted McDermott International Inc. (NYSE:MDR) to supply a new jacket, temporary deck, and replacement umbilical for the North Field Alpha gas development offshore Qatar.

HOUSTON– Qatar Petroleum has contracted McDermott International Inc. (NYSE:MDR) to supply a new jacket, temporary deck, and replacement umbilical for the North Field Alpha gas development offshore Qatar.

The brownfield contract includes front-end engineering design verification, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of a new six-legged, 15-slot wellhead jacket and temporary drill deck, with a total weight of approximately 5,000 tons.

The work also includes the decommissioning, removal, replacement and pre-commissioning of 2.6 mi (4.2 km) of composite umbilical and a fiber-optic cable in the Maydan Mahzam field.

Detailed engineering, procurement, and construction are expected to be carried out by McDermott’s specialist teams in Dubai,United Arab Emirates. Work is expected to be executed through 2Q 2016.

Saudi Aramco has awarded McDermott Middle East Inc. a power supply system replacement contract for theMarjan field offshore Saudi Arabia.

The overall brownfield project comprises integrated engineering, procurement, construction, installation (EPCI), and replacement of the decks of two existing tie-in platforms, as well as the removal and salvage of existing gas turbine generators, and the installation of two new 115 kV subsea power and communication cables. The initial scope of work comprises the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and load-out of the platforms and cable.

Engineering is expected to be carried out by the company’s specialist teams in Dubai; Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia; and Chennai, India. The two new electrical decks are scheduled to be fabricated at the Dubai-based fabrication facility. Work is expected to be executed through 4Q 2016.
