ANTWERP, Belgium – Exmar has issued an update on its floating LNG (FLNG) vessel construction program.
TheCaribbean FLNG barge is around 95% complete. Commissioning will start this summer in China.
Pacific Rubiales will start chartering the barge following completion of commissioning of under the terms of the 15-year contract.
Exmar and Pacific Rubiales are examining various gas fields around the world for a potential deployment.
The regasification barge under construction atWison Offshore and Marine for the Exmar/Pacific joint venture is being offered to several clients for long-term employment. Exmar expects to secure a charter contract before the end of the year, followed by delivery late in 2016.
The consortium of EDFT, Idemitsu Altagas, and Exmar is progressing work on the Douglas Channel FLNG barge which will operate near Kitimat, British Columbia.
They are working on a front-end engineering and design (FEED) study in order to reach a final investment decision by the end of this year. The vessel is expected to start operating during the first half of 2018.
Exmar is also pursuing other liquefaction opportunities around the world for the second liquefaction barge on order at Wison Offshore and Marine, to be delivered mid-2018.
As for Exmar’s Offshore division, the company has long-term charter contracts with the accommodation bargesWariboko (ex-Otto 5), which it acquired in February, Kissama and Nunce.
Wariboko is working for Total E&P Nigeria until May 2017.
Exmar says the current oil price is encouraging oil companies to seek a longer-term lease rather than investing in assets directly. Although drilling activities offshore have slowed, for production activities the company notes clients looking at alternatives to maintain their production plans on schedule.
