ANP shuts down Petrobras’ P-58 FPSO

The Brazilian government’s National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) halted operations at Petrobras’ P-58 FPSO following an inspection that raised safety questions.

RIO DE JANEIRO –TheBrazilian government’s National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) halted operations at Petrobras’P-58 FPSO following an inspection that raised safety questions.

Officials of the oil workers union in the state ofEspírito Santo had given the ANP and Petrobras a list of 48 safety issues regarding P-58.

The report specified unsafe conditions of the crane, lack of redundant safety systems, and attachment questions around lighting fixtures and searchlights, along with poor night-shift lighting and leaking oil and water and gas in the vicinity of the FPSO hull, among other issues.

Another ANP inspection will be required before the FPSO can go back onstream.
