AL KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia – Topaz Marine KSA, a subsidiary of offshore support vessel contractor Topaz Energy and Marine, has teamed up with the Faculty of Maritime Studies of the King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah.

They aim to developSaudi Arabia’s potential in the maritime offshore industry.

Topaz Marine has been working with cadets from the university during their sea-training period since the start of this year: this program is mandatory for all cadets in a Bachelor of Science program, allowing them to operate as officers onboard sea going vessels.

King Abdul Aziz University is fully accredited by the Kingdom’s Ministry of Transport, which ensures that all maritime training programs meet the standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Additionally, Topaz Marine has started training programs for its Saudi seafarers at the university in order to have them certified in accordance with international maritime standards.

The certificates and subsequent licenses to work onboard a ship issued by the university will be acknowledged internationally. Graduates can elect to be enrolled following training as professional seafarers on vessels in the Topaz fleet.
