SEATTLE – Measurement Technology Northwest (MNTW) is adding the new RL20VWD cable line rider to its rental fleet.

With the capability to monitor tension, speed, and payout across a range of wire rope and synthetic rope diameters, the RL20VWD will enhance the existing portfolio of MTNW rental equipment for the offshore oil and gas market. Eight-point RL-20VWD systems are expected to be available for rental in March 2015.

MTNW recently mobilized a four-point anchor winch monitoring system complete with remote displays and data acquisition system from its rental pool for the SaipemS45. Configured and calibrated for 2-in. wire rope and up to 150 tons (136 metric tons) of line tension, this system was able to be deployed and installed to expedite the barge’s deployment.

Commissioned by the company’s engineers in Tampico, Mexico, this system was used to support the load-out, sea fastening, transport, installation, testing, and start-up of the platform. The structure will weigh more than 15,000 tons, including the 9,000-ton main deck, 1,850-ton jacket, bridges, and substructures.
