HOUSTONDTI has validated the response times and accuracy of its patented, streamlined riser recoil valve. A series of tests proved that during an extreme event, such as a wireline break or riser parting, the valve reacted almost instantly, limiting the flow of fluid and controlling extension of the cylinder rod.

During an actual event, the riser recoil valve reduces the possibility of damage to the vessel, risers and wellhead systems, which the company says makes it a vital component of riser tensioner systems.

Prior riser recoil valves required the use of tandem devices or speed control valves in order to ensure proper operation. DTI’s riser recoil valve eliminates back-up devices and aims to improve overall safety during offshore operations.
