LISSENVELD, the Netherlands – Holmatro and its Norwegian dealer EIVA-SAFEX have supplied 64 cylinders, each with a capacity of 536 tons, to the Snorre A TLP in the Norwegian North Sea.

Additionally, they delivered controls and storage for the hydraulic system.

The TLP, 200 km (124 mi) from the Norwegian west coast, is anchored to the seabed with steel tethers. To measure and monitor pre-tensioning of the cables, each leg of the platform includes constructions equipped with load-cells.

During calibration of the load-cells the weight of the platform must be taken off. This task should be easier with the new cylinders, Holmatro claims.

According to Rob Loonen, sales engineer for Holmatro Industrial Equipment, “EIVA-SAFEX handled the lifting installation and we jointly drew up the required documentation in line with the legal requirements for the offshore platform.”
