RENDLESHAM, UK – Expro has contracted Amarinth to supply 10 API 610 OH1 series pumps for the Subsea Well Response Project (SWRP).

Nine international oil and gas companies are workingOil Spill Response Ltd. within SWRP to develop a containment tool kit to support subsea well incident response if well shut-in is not immediately possible.

Shell operates the project from its headquarters in Stavanger, overseen by an Operating Committee comprising one representative from each participating company.

Expro, which is responsible for the transfer pumps and coolers for the project, commissioned Amarinth to provide the pumps with Plan 53B Seal Support systems.

They will be mounted three per skid and are designed to fit on the deck of the supply vessel ready for rapid deployment anywhere at any time should an environmental incident arise.

The pumps will help contain and remove oil from the sea and offload it into tankers for removal from scene. The tenth pump will be maintained as a spare, the aim being to minimize downtime if a pump has to be changed at short notice.

SWRP is training its operators in the use of the equipment ahead of its final commissioning.
