ABERDEEN, UK – Statoil has awarded Tendeka a four-year extension to its contract to supply sand-face completion equipment for Troll and other fields offshore Norway.

Under the agreement, which starts next month, Tendeka will install up to 40,000 joints of sand screens equipped with autonomous inflow control devices (ICDs), and zonal isolation packers.

During the first contract the company manufactured and supplied more than 16,000 joints of sand screens with ICDs and autonomous ICDs (AICDs).

ICDs create a more even production profile along the length of a horizontal wellbore, countering early water or gas breakthrough caused by reservoir heterogeneity, fractures, or frictional pressure losses. Tendeka’s FloSure AICDs provide this functionality and feature a self-regulating adjustable design to increase production choking where gas and water break through occurs.

This, the company says, prevents the well from being flooded with unwanted fluids and leads to improved recovery, lower water cuts and less gas production.
