Offshore staff
ANKARA, Turkey – Officials from Gazprom and Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corp. have signed a memorandum of understanding to construct an offshore gas pipeline across the Black Sea toward Turkey.
This would replace theSouth Stream pipeline from Russia to Bulgaria, which Russia’s government has decided to cancel following deterioration in relations with the European Union.
The proposed new gas pipeline would have a capacity of 63 bcm (2.2 tcf), of which 14 bcm (494 bcf) would go to Turkish consumers. The remainder will be conveyed to a delivery point on the border between Turkey and Greece.
The Russkaya compressor station in Russia’s Krasnodar Territory, under construction forSouth Stream, will serve as the pipeline starting point.
