GORINCHEM, the NetherlandsFugro has received the third of a series of three Fugro offshore coastal survey vessels (FOCSVs) being built by Damen. Like the other vessels in this series, Fugro Frontier is a compact, diesel-electric FOCSV designed for a variety of tasks. In addition, Fugro Frontier has been customized in order to meet conditions in its chosen market off the coast of Africa.

All three vessels have an advanced design capable of taking on geotechnical work, environmental baseline surveys, moon pool deployment, plus monitoring and inspection duties.

“Since these vessels are to work in different areas, each is adapted to suit a particular environment,” says Mijndert Wiesenekker, sales director for Damen’s Benelux region. “As a result, this series has been developed specifically to allow for a number of optional configurations.”

TheFugro Frontier has a slightly different deck layout than the other series vessels, and includes a small daughter craft that will be utilized as a survey vessel in areas of shallow water in which larger crafts cannot enter.
