Eni starts production from West Hub offshore Angola

Eni has produced first oil from the West Hub development project in block 15/06 offshore Angola.

LUANDA, Angola – Eni has produced first oil from the West Hub development project in block 15/06 offshore Angola.

The field, 350 km (217 mi) northwest of Luanda, is producing 45,000 b/d through theN’Goma FPSO, with production ramp-up expected to reach a daily production of up to 100,000 b/d in the coming months. The start-up of the East Hub development, expected in 2017, will increase overall production from block 15/06 to 200,000 b/d.

The project marks the return of Eni as a deepwater operator inAngola. It includes the Sangos, Cinguvu, and Mpungi fields, and involves the drilling of 21 subsea wells, 12 producers, four alternate water and gas injectors, and five water injectors. Water depths range between 1,000 m (3,281 ft) and 1,500 m (4,921 ft).

Eni is operator of block 15/06 with a 35% stake and Sonangol EP is the concessionaire. The other partners of the joint venture are Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção (35%), SSI Fifteen Ltd. (25%), and Falcon Oil Holding Angola SA (5%).
