LONDON – Braemar LNG BV has signed a license agreement with General Dynamics NASSCO to use its patents in the design and construction of FSP LNG containment systems.

The FSP system – a new flat-panel, semi-membrane, prismatic-shaped LNG tank-containment system Type B – uses new flat plate technology to overcome the issues associated with partial filling and sloshing.

The FSP containment systems can be used on FPSOs and FSRUs, for LNG transportation and LNG marine fuel tanks, and for offshore storage. The new Type B containment system is designed to be constructed, outfitted, insulated, and tested off hull and then lifted complete into the vessel while the vessel is still in the construction dock.

Approval in principle for the new systems has been obtained from bothLloyds Register and the American Bureau of Shipping.
