GALVESTON, Texas – CETCO Energy Services is discussing its eelReel solution for cleaning flowlines on the exhibition floor of the Deepwater Operations Conference & Exhibition being held at the Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston, Texas.

The company says that the patented technology, which is used in conjunction with coiled tubing, can completely clean flowlines to the full ID of the pipe at distances greater than 30,000 ft (9,144 m).

According to CETCO, the eelReel enables operators to accessflowlines thought to be inaccessible or unpiggable. The eelReel can be used offshore where lines are unpiggable due to plugging, stuck pigs, or architecture (platform to pipeline, subsea flowline to platform). Pig receivers and pig launchers are not required.

Providing a comprehensive solution reduces overall project costs and minimizes the potential for environmental impact, according to CETCO. The company says that current applications are limited to flowlines of 8 in. or less, but adds that it can work with clients to meet challenges in line sizes ranging from 4 to 42 in.
