LANCASHIRE, UKTrelleborg’s offshore operation has secured a contract from Subsea 7 to supply its high-temperature thermal insulation material for Phase 2 of the Erha North project, Nigeria.

Trelleborg will supply several tons of high-temperature silicone insulation, Vikotherm S1, to the oil and gas flowlines in the field. Manufactured using room-temperature vulcanization technology, the coating can handle the Ehra field’s high 300°F (149°C) temperature, said Trelleborg.

The product was designed to cater to the harsh environment at the Ehra field and incorporates a unique silicone compound. The system can operate at ocean depths of 9,832 ft (3,000 m) and temperatures as high as 300°F (149°C).

The Erha North Phase 2 development sits at 3,960 ft (1,200 m)subsea and is an extension of the existing Erha subsea system and infrastructure, which is currently producing to the Erha FPSO located in Nigeria.

Trelleborg is expected to complete its supply of thermal insulation by 4Q 2014.
