KONGSBERG, Norway– Survey providers DOF Subsea, Fugro GeoServices, Northwest Maritime, and AXA Engehnaria Submarina have chosen Kongsberg Maritime’s autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) HUGIN system for their offshore operations.

This month, Kongsberg Maritime will deliver a new HUGIN vehicle to Fugro Geoservices Inc. of Lafayette, Louisiana. The latest HUGIN ordered by Fugro is rated for operations from 10 m to 4,500 m (33 ft to 14,764 ft), and it carries a high specification payload suite that enables it to perform advanced survey operations and inspections. The vehicle is fitted with a sonar for acoustic pictures and sea maps with high resolution, and a still camera for geo-referenced high-resolution pictures of subsea pipes. The second HUGIN is scheduled for delivery to Northwest Maritime and AXA later in ths year. It will be equipped with a similar payload suite and rated to 3,000 m (9,843 ft).
