Cook Inlet platform evacuated

The US Coast Guard has safely evacuated all four crew on the Baker platform in Cook Inlet following report of a fire on the gas drilling facility.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska –The US Coast Guard has safely evacuated all four crew on the Baker platform in Cook Inlet following report of a fire on the gas drilling facility.

The Coast Guard also diverted a Hercules HC-130 and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to overfly the platform in Cook Inlet, near Nikiski. Additionally, the Coast Guard launched the CutterMustang and the diverted the Cutter SPAR to the location. 

A 5-mi (8-km), no-fly safety zone at 5,000 ft (1,524 m) and a 2-mi (3.2-km) safety zone are in effect around the platform.
