KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Petronas has produced first oil from the Banang field offshore peninsular Malaysia, three months ahead of schedule.
Banang is the second field onstream from the KBM cluster.Kapal flowed first oil last December. Additionally, this is the third Malaysian offshore risk service contract to produce oil following the Balai cluster and Berantai field developments.
The Banang facilities comprise a mobile offshore production unit, a tanker with 600,000-bbl storage capacity, a well bay module, and a flexible flowline. The field is expected to deliver on average 6,000 b/d.
