Rigs sail into northern Scotland for Semco upgrades

Semco Maritime Rig Projects has won upgrade orders for three offshore drilling rigs.

INVERGORDON, UK – Semco Maritime Rig Projects has won upgrade orders for three offshore drilling rigs.

The company will deploy 60 specialists on the program at its purpose-built center, established in Invergordon, northern Scotland, earlier this year in partnership with the Port of Cromarty Firth.

Semco Maritime will complete final installations on Prospector Drilling’s new jackupProspector 5, ahead of its first assignment, and will undertake minor installation works on the jackup Prospector 1. Both have arrived in Invergordon.

The 112 x 80-m (367 x 262-ft) semisubmersibleSonga Dee is also moored at the deepwater Queens Dock quay, where it will undergo various electrical, structural, mechanical, and pipe work.
