LONDONCeona says its new offshore construction vessel Ceona Amazon has been floated at the Lloyd Werft yard in Bremerhaven, northern Germany, following a tow-out earlier this year from the Crist yard in Poland.

Ceona Amazon will have carrying capacity for 5,000 tons of flexible or 8,500 tons of rigid pipe stored on and below its 4,600-sq m (43,055-sq ft) deck. Other features include twin 400-ton AHC cranes capable of working in tandem lifting mode, pipeline fabrication capabilities such as NDT and FJC, and a drillship-design hull, intended to provide superior operability.

All major machinery, equipment and the helideck are installed. Accommodation, piping and electrical outfitting are in progress with system commissioning due to commence in the next few weeks. All work on the 199-m (653-ft) long vessel is expected to be completed in November.

Once work in Germany has been completed, Ceona Amazon will move to the Huisman yard in Schiedam, the Netherlands, for installation of a 570-ton pipelay tower and the two 400-ton cranes before entering service early next year.
