SUBIACO, Australia – Vioco Petroleum has submitted a revised development plan for the shallow-water Gazelle gas field in block CI-202 offshore Côte d’Ivoire.

The revision calls for supply of gas directly to a new power plant to be built adjacent to the Gazelle onshore gas processing facilities.Azonto says discussions are under way with state electricity utility CI-Energies to optimize integration of the gas and power projects.

All sides have agreed on main terms of the gas sales contract and the project could get under way by the end of 2014.

Last November, Vioco was granted a new production-sharing contract for the block, which covers a total area of 707 sq km (273 sq mi). The concession includes other oil and gas discoveries and numerous exploration and appraisal targets in water depths of 50-1,000 m (164-3,281 ft).

Interpretation is nearing completion of pre-stack depth seismic data, including re-mapping of existing prospects and development of new ones. The most attractive prospects will be matured to allow for an exploration well to be included in theGazelle drilling program.
