Oslo, Norway – Statoil has shut-in its oil platform at the Oseberg East field offshore Norway after a supply vessel collision. Production is expected to restart later today, according to Reuters.
The collision forced a shutdown and preparations to evacuate workers; an investigation found a small damage to the platform.
"The production was stopped, but we are preparing to restart it later today," said Lars Kindingstad, a spokesman for Statoil.
Oseberg East produced around 961,189 barrels of oil in 1Q 2014 or about 8,000 b/d, according to data from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
