OSLO, Norway -- The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Statoil ASA a drilling permit for wellbore 7324/9-1, situated in production license 614. The operator will use the Transocean Spitsbergen semisubmersible to drill the first well in the license.
License 614 consists of blocks 7324/9 and 7325/7, located about 12 m (20 km) southeast of the 7324/8-1 oil discovery and about 186 mi (300 km) north of Hammerfest.
Statoil is the operator of the license with a 60% stake, while Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS holds 40%.
