LONDON – BP has contracted Petrofac for maintenance work for the Shah Deniz Stage 2 project in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.

The $8.45-million contract covers new offshore, onshore, andpipeline facilities. Petrofac’s consulting business Plant Asset Management will deliver the program.

Shah Deniz Stage 2, due to be completed in 2018, will boost gas production from the Shah Deniz field by 16 bcm/yr (565 bcf/yr), much of it exported through a new southern gas corridor pipeline to Europe.

Plant Asset Management has previously worked for BP on the Clair Ridge and Andrew Area developments offshore the UK and the Chirag oil project, again in the Azeri sector.

It will deploy its BuildME software platform on Shah Deniz for development of reliability and maintenance strategies, validation of the master equipment list, creation of a maintenance assignment, and development of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) data.
