NPD approves two offshore Norway wildcats

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized use of the semisubmersible Iceland Innovator for exploration drilling in the Barents Sea.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized use of the semisubmersible Iceland Innovator for exploration drilling in the Barents Sea.

The rig will drill well 7220/11-1, the first in license PL609, for operator Lundin Norway.

The acreage takes in blocks/part-blocks 7220/6, 7220/9, 7220/11, 7220/12, and 7221/4.

In theNorth Sea, Tullow Oil has clearance from NPD to use the semisub Borgland Dolphin to drill exploration well 31/10-1 in PL 558, 35 km (21.7 mi) south of the Oseberg field.
