Total expects to spud its first exploration well in deepwater block 11B/12B offshore South Africa in 3Q 2014, according to partner Canadian Natural Resources.

CALGARY, Canada– Total expects to spud its first exploration well in deepwater block 11B/12B offshore South Africa in 3Q 2014, according to partner Canadian Natural Resources.

The exploration right is in the Outeniqua basin, roughly 175 km (109 mi) offshore.

OffCôte d’Ivoire, Canadian Natural has contracted a drilling rig for a 12-month light crude oil infill drilling program at the Espoir field.

The 10-well program is expected to start during 2Q 2014.
