Platform well proves more reserves in Gimle offshore Norway

Statoil has discovered hydrocarbons on the eastern flank of the Gimle field in the northern Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Statoil has discovered hydrocarbons on the eastern flank of the Gimle field in the northern Norwegian North Sea.

Well 34/10-C-18 A was drilled from theGullfaks C platform in 220 m (722 ft) of water in production licenses 120 B/Gimle Unit.

It encountered petroleum in the Brent Group, Statfjord Group, and Lunde formation. The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate estimates reserves in the range 0.2-1 MMcmoe recoverable.

The well was P&A’d and then side tracked as development well 34/10-C-18 B, for tie-in to the Gimle field.
