EDINBURGH, UKExova will provide a mobile laboratory/machine shop to support Subsea 7’s projects offshore Republic of Congo and Angola.

The equipment designed and built in Daventry, UK, will fit in two 40-ft (12-m) purpose-built units.

It will be used forpipeline coating qualification tests including cathodic disbondment to ensure compatibility with impressed potential corrosion protection systems; adhesion and peel testing of coatings to ensure a high integrity barrier to sea water ingress; and differential scanning calorimetry to verify correct coating cure of the critical Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE)  corrosion coat.

According to Exova, the facility will operate for around four months and will be manned at all times by seven technicians, testing field joint coatings in real time and delivering same day results.
