VLISSINGEN, the Netherlands– A barge is on its way to the Danish North Sea carrying the jacket and wellhead deck for DONG Energy’s Hejre oil and gas field development.

Heerema Vlissingen built both structures and associated piles for the project’s main contractor Technip.

The 8,500-ton, eight-leg launch jacket measures 60 x 35 x 85 m (197 x 115 x 279 ft), and has two 400-ton buoyancy tanks on its sides to keep the structure floating following launching. The 900-ton pre-drilling wellhead deck measures 40 x 12 x 10 m (131 x 39 x 33 ft).

Following installation by Heerema Marine Contractors, drilling will begin, with topsides installation scheduled for 2015.

Hejre is in 70 m (230 ft) water depth. The facilities are expected to start up next year. DONG operates in partnership with Bayerngas.
