HAMPSHIRE, UK – GTS Subsea, a marine geosciences and seabed site investigation specialist, has an ROV in-situ electrical resistivity and temperature probe available for hire. The probe measures both the electrical resistivity and temperature of seabed sediments, returning real-time data to inform corrosion protection decisions for seabed pipelines.
The latest model consists of the probe and a subsea housing with electronics to power the unit and handle the data, which allows the unit to be used at depths down to 1,500 m (4,921 ft). Recovered data is then sent to the surface through the ROV’s telemetry system.
The probe itself has a T-shaped handle for use with the ROV’s manipulator and is configured to take single-point readings from specific seabed stabs but a depth profiling variant is also in development.
