LONDON– Offshore marine and engineering consultancy firm Aqualis Offshore has opened an office in Shanghai, China, as part of its rapid global expansion plan. Just a year after starting operations, Aqualis Offshore has established 12 offices in nine countries worldwide.

“China has a growing offshore oil and gas industry and a number of quality offshore construction yards that are increasingly becoming strong competitors to the South Korean and Singapore yards,” said Phil Lenox, director of Asia Pacific, Aqualis Offshore. “We are setting up a permanent presence to service the offshore industry and to support a growing list of oil companies and rig owners who utilize the yards in Shanghai and elsewhere in China.”

Since mid-2013, a team of seven from Aqualis Offshore’s Singapore office has been onsite in China, working on a construction supervision project.

The Shanghai office’s main fields of activity are construction supervision, marine warranty, jackup trials and commissioning, transportation and rig moving. It will also offer engineering design services with support from Aqualis Offshore’s other offices.

Aqualis Offshore is a specialized marine and offshore engineering consultancy focusing on the shallow anddeepwater offshore segments of the oil and gas industry. Its core services include concept, FEED, and basic design engineering for upgrades and conversions of jackups, rigs, and other fixed offshore installations, rig moving, marine warranty, dynamic positioning, and construction supervision services. The company also offers transportation and installation, as well as due-diligence services.

With headquarters in London, Aqualis Offshore, which started operations last year, has also set up offices in Sandefjord, Asker and Oslo, Norway; Houston, Texas, in the US; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Singapore; Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE); Bahrain; and Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
