WELLINGTON, New Zealand – New Zealand Oil & Gas (NZOG) says the Aquila Explorer has completed a 540-km (335-mi) 2D seismic survey over its PEP 54857 Waru permit offshore South Taranaki, New Zealand.

The data should improve understanding of geological structures within Waru and help identify areas of prospectivity, the company said. It also satisfies the license commitment.

No wells have been drilled in the permit which lies within the source kitchen for the Maui andMaari oil and gas fields.

NZOG reached an agreement with the operator of the Maui joint venture to include two lines of seismic over the Maui field in exchange for data from the Rura-1A well.
