NPD gives go-ahead for two exploration wells offshore Norway

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized Lundin Norway to drill a wildcat well 200 km (124 mi) west of Måløy in the Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized Lundin Norway to drill a wildcat well 200 km (124 mi) west of Måløy in the Norwegian North Sea.

The semisubmersibleTransocean Arctic will drill well 33/2-1, the first on license PL 555, after completing side track operations for VNG Norge on the Pil discovery in PL 586.

Lundin’s license was awarded in February 2010.

NPD has also cleared RWE Dea Norge to drill appraisal well 35/9-11 A 14 km (8.7 mi) west of the Gjøa field in theNorth Sea. The semisub Leiv Eirikssonwill drill the well on PL 420.
