Construction starts on compression platform for offshore Equatorial Guinea

Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has cut first steel for Marathon’s Alba field B3 compression platform to be installed offshore Equatorial Guinea.

ZWIJNDRECHT, the Netherlands – Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has cut first steel for Marathon’s Alba field B3 compression platform to be installed offshore Equatorial Guinea.

The 4,500-ton Alba B3 compression topside is destined for the Alba gas and condensate field, 20 mi (32 km) north of Bioko Island.

As main contractor HFG will manage the overall project and jointly execute the engineering, procurement, and construction scope from Iv-AGA’s offices in Houston.

Heerema Marine Contractors is responsible for transportation and installation.

The platform topsides will be supported by a four-legged 2,000-ton jacket to be fabricated at Heerema Zwijndrecht and Heerema Vlissingen.

HFG Polska in Poland will fabricate the nodes and plate girders, for subsequent delivery to Zwijndrecht for the topsides.
