COPENHAGEN, Denmark –Lukoil has contracted Ramboll Group to support development of the Yuri S. Kuvykin gas condensate field in the North Caspian Sea (Russian sector).

Ramboll will provide pre-front-end engineering design studies for a drilling complex and topside living quarters, designed for operation in arctic conditions.

Severe ice build-up occurs in the region during the winter months, when temperatures slide to -21°C (-5.8°F). As part of its remit, Ramboll will perform winterization studies to ensure that structures and machinery can withstand the severe cold.

Lukoil is targeting production from the field of 4 bcm/yr (141 bcf/yr) of gas and 385,000 tons/yr of condensate.
