SANDNES, Norway – Eni Norge has contracted EnerMech for lifting and inspection services on the Goliat field FPSO in the Barents Sea.

Under the three-year frame agreement, the contractor will also provide loose lifting equipment, lifting equipment, competency inspection, cargo transport equipment, elevators, and personnel lifting equipment.

EnerMech will open a support base in Hammerfest in Norway’s far north.

Eni Norge has signed another three-year contract for the same project with Oss-nor Hammerfest AS.

The Norwegian contractor will be responsible for modification of valves at onshore workshops during Goliat’s commissioning and operations phase, and for work performed on valves offshore.

Goliat, discovered in 2000, will be the first oil field to come onstream in the Norwegian sector of the Barents Sea. It contains an estimated 174 MMbbl of oil and 8 bcm (282.5 bcf) of gas.

The field is being developed using a cylindrical Sevan 1000 FPSO tailored to conditions in the Barents Sea. Operations will require more than 9,000 valves, Eni Norge says.
