Technip wins two Petrobras contracts for ultra-deepwater fields

Petrobras has awarded Technip two contracts for the supply of flexible pipes for the ultra-deepwater Sapinhoá Norte field and I5 contracts in the Lula field (formerly the Tupi field), in Brazil’s presalt Santos basin, at a water depth of up to 2,500 m (8,202 ft).

PARISPetrobras has awarded Technip two contracts for the supply of flexible pipes for the ultra-deepwater Sapinhoá Norte field and I5 contracts in the Lula field (formerly the Tupi field), in Brazil’s presalt Santos basin, at a water depth of up to 2,500 m (8,202 ft).

The combination of both contracts covers the supply of 100 km (62 mi) of flexible pipes for oil production, gas lift, and gas injection. It also includes related equipment for the presalt area to be installed on the FPSOsCidade de Angra dos Reis and Cidade de Ilhabela.

The gas-injection top risers are designed for high internal pressure, using the Teta profile developed by Technip’s R&D team in Le Trait, France. In Brazil, the gas-injection top riser, together with the majority of the scope above, will be manufactured in Flexibras Açu, will be in production in 1Q 2014; the remaining scope will be manufactured in Flexibras Vitória. Technip’s operating center in Rio de Janeiro will perform the engineering and project management.
