Stone Energy provides drilling update

Stone Energy Corp. has updated on its three deepwater/deep-gas wells.

LAFAYETTE, LouisianaStone Energy Corp. has updated on its three deepwater/deep-gas wells.

Drilling operations at the deepwater San Marcos prospect inMississippi Canyon 983, are complete, and the rig is being released. The well was drilled to 28,500 ft (8,687 m) without encountering commercial hydrocarbons and will be P&A’d. Stone holds a 25% non-operated working interest in the project.

The deepwater Amethyst prospect in Mississippi Canyon 26 continues to drill and is at 15,300 ft (4,663 m) with a targeted depth of 20,000 ft (6,096 m). Stone holds a 100% working interest in the project.

At the deep-gas Tom Cat prospect in West Cameron 176, drilling continues and is at 14,000 ft (4,267 m) with a targeted depth of 16,000 ft (4,877 m). Stone holds a 100% working interest in the project.

Both the Amethyst and Tom Cat wells are expected to encounter their targeted objectives in late January.

Additionally, theEnsco 8502 rig for the Cardona project (Mississippi Canyon 29) will be moving to location and is expected to spud in early January. Stone holds a 65% working interest and is the operator of the project.

Finally, Stone expects to spud its Mica Deep prospect (Mississippi Canyon 211) in 1Q 2014. Stone holds a 50% non-operated working interest in the prospect.
