Petrobras calls on Prysmian for downhole cables

MILAN, Italy – Petrobras has ordered downhole technology systems (DHTs) from Prysmian Group.

Under a $24-million contract, Prysmian will supply tubing encapsulated cables for use in individual wells to monitor temperature, pressure, and other parameters to improve control of flow through the reservoirs.

These will be manufactured at the company’s facilities in Bridgewater, New Jersey, and in Cariacica, Brazil, using steel materials sourced inBrazil.

Prysmian also has signed a$260-million frame agreement to supply umbilicals to Petrobras, and another agreement to provide flexible pipes until 2016.
